This large-scale map highlights 20 trail hikes in this scenic section of the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument, including portions of the Angeles National Forest and the upper reaches of the Sheep Mountain Wilderness.
This hand-drawn map is printed on tear-proof, weather-proof synthetic paper. Trails are depicted in a clear, easy to locate format. A brief description of each of the 20 hikes is printed at the top of the map, providing both trail length as well as elevation gain and loss for each hike listed. Contour lines have purposely been omitted for the sake of clearly seeing each specific trail, road, stream, summit, picnic area, campground and other points of interest. A wide range of differing landscapes and year-round adventures are to be found within this part of the mountain range.
Experiences range from easy-going nature trail loops, to following a section of the Pacific Crest Trail or perhaps even climbing Mt. Baden-Powell and seeing its’ ancient limber pine forest. One can also descend into the depths of the Sheep Mountain Wilderness, taking in the isolated solitude of the upper East Fork of the San Gabriel River and the extensive Prairie Fork.
